We are also pleased to release our 2023 Annual Report, along with the outstanding number of responses we've received from phase one of our AARIA research and innovation contestable funding round. 2024 Regional Forum update
On 17 May we welcomed 80+ attendees to our 2024 Central Regional Forum in Palmerston North for a day of connecting, networking and discussing strategies for overcoming sector challenges – presentation topics included dyslexia/neurodiversity, Mātauranga Māori, AI - opportunities for assessment, and more.
One attendee spoke to the relevance of these topics saying:
“We are exploring how to be more accommodating of neurdivergence, and so I have some new resources and information now to look into to help us do this."
We were very excited to receive over 120 applications in Phase One of our AARIA Contestable Funding Round. We look forward to receiving your completed proposals in phase two.
Applications for the Kaupapa Māori, Le Moana Mua, and the General awards are open until the 28 June. Visit our Te Whatu Kairangi webpage to learn more about submitting a nomination.

Southern Region ACE Communities of Practice Event
Our Southern Hub Sector Services Manager, Jennifer Leahy, and Evaluation Advisor, Saba Azeem, took part in 'ACE Place', an event coordinated by the ACE Communities of Practice group and marking the third year of our collaboration with the group.
The event focused on celebrating the theme "where learning is possible for anyone in our community". Jennifer noted the huge interest that librarians showed in ACE programmes. Providers also appreciated the opportunity to discover what others have to offer and to connect with each other.
Ako Aotearoa values its connections within the ACE community and is always eager to support their important work. This event provided an excellent platform to engage and remind people of the exciting learning opportunities available for adults in Ōtatutahi (Christchurch).
