Ako Aotearoa is proud to announce eleven winners in the 2024 Te Whatu Kairangi | Aotearoa Tertiary Educator Awards. These awards recognise outstanding and sustained teaching excellence of this year's tertiary educators and trainers. The awards ceremony will be hosted by the Hon Penny Simmonds, Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills at Parliament on 4th of November.
This year's awards welcomes the first recipient of the Te Tohu Reo Māori award, which recognises the practice of kaiako who teach te reo Māori.
Congratulations to you all, the educators who are fortunate to have been selected to receive a Te Whatu Kairangi award this year. You have worked extremely hard over the years to support your learners to achieve educational success, despite the trials and tribulations of the times. Our best wishes to you all!
Tēnā rā koutou te hunga kaiako ka waimarie i tēnei tau, kia whakawhiwhiwia ake nei koutou ki ngā tohu o Te Whatu Kairangi. Ko koutou rā ēnei i whakapau werawera nei i ngā tau nei, ki te poipoi ake i ā koutou ākonga kia puta ake ai ō rātou ihu ki te ao mārama, ahakoa ngā makenu o te wā. Ngā mihi whakaharahara ki a koutou katoa!
The Prime Minister's Educator of the Year Award is the highest accolade of the event and will be awarded to one Te Whatu Kairangi awardee. This will be announced during the ceremony.
